Dans « Today I wrote nothing » Natalie Czech se réfère à une page du journal de l’écrivain et poète d’avant garde russe Daniil Charms (1905-1942) auteur de nouvelles très courtes aussi absurdes qu’étranges, dans un style proche du surréalisme et du dadaïsme. Il est rapidement stigmatisé comme auteur « antisoviétique » du fait des multiples interprétations possibles de ses écrits. Il se tourne alors vers l’écriture de livres pour enfants. Il décède en 1942 lors du siège de Leningrad, dans un hôpital psychiatrique où il avait été interné de force par le pouvoir stalinien au motif de son « étrangeté ». Ses manuscrits seront publiés à l’Ouest au cours des années 60 et sous forme de samizdat en U.R.S.S.

Couples of a certain age, people barely seen socially, but who have not stopped living life fully and whose close relation is photographed in the outing dances of their area. The photographs give visibility to people that, for a certain time, have lacked such visibility. This series, at the same time, documents the cultural diversity that exists between different cities and countries: Guadalajara, Spain; Philadelphia, USA; Pirkanmaa, Finland and Leyte, Philippines. Lone Wolf is a picture book whose name is derived from the provision of the U.S.A. Patriot act which seeks to create a legal framework that allows the government to surveil individuals not associated with any group or country who are believed to be engaged in terrorist activities. Comprised of screenshots from reality television shows depicting expressions of physical force within three sectors of american society: police, local militia, and the U.S. military, excerpts from congressional hearings of the 112th and 113th congresses on the Patriot act give context to the images. I was born in the Basque Country in 1978. This land has been inhabited since prehistoric times by the Basques. This continuous presence is explained by the context of the landscape, collected by the mountains and bathed by the Cantabric Sea, that has served as a shelter to a rooted culture and popular customs that are still alive in the 21st century.
Here, nature, history and legend come together with unusual force and create a land of myths and magic that I explore through photography. A land where nature is praised in old rites learned from our ancestors.
These intangible concepts are the beginning point to create a visual imaginary which serves me to understand the society and the land I live in, positioning myself in my environment through photography. Trees, waves, animals and black skies build a symbolic world that I turn into a channel to reach the soul of the Basques, an old soul, the soul of the one who pursues its lost paradise.
Galerna is a tribute to the original identity of this land.

I was born in Batumi, in the Republic of Georgia, and grew up on the beach. During the 90s my country went through tough moments, the separation from the Soviet Union, a civil war and a lot of darkness in the streets. All that sadness, darkness and Black sea perspectives shaped me. Photography helps me view the world from different perspectives, it makes me see things in a different way, it changed my idea of sadness and my idea of love among others. Photography helps me communicate with people, objects, streets and nature and find positive things in those connections.

Dave the Chimp has been riding skateboards since the mid 1980’s, painting on found wood and making fanzines since the mid 1990’s, and working in the streets since 1998. He still does all these things, as well as exhibiting his art in galleries and museums world wide, working as an illustrator for a variety of clients, directing pop videos, compiling books, and curating exhibitions. Dave has exhibited alongside the leading names in the urban art scene, including Banksy, Blu, Miss Van, Swoon, Os Gemeos, Shepard Fairey, Space Invader, and Zevs. He was the first UK artist to have his own artist model shoe created by Vans, and a book of his work (Part Of Rebellion 2 – Dave the Chimp) was published by Publikat in 2009. In 2011 he built his first concrete skateable sculpture “Papa und Ich” outside of the Bethanien, Berlin, and the wooden “friendship bowl” in the Awanganda Gallery, Wroclaw, Poland. He has since built the “Papa und Ich Speilplatz” skatepark in Milan, and the “Troll Bridge Ramp” at La Condition Publique, Roubaix, France. He is currently focused on change, encouraging exploration, protest culture and positive vibrations, with his “Human Bean” characters as the medium through which to go on this adventure.

Zum vierten Mal in Folge können wir den KUNSTSALON nicht als Präsenzausstellung anbieten. Keine positive Entwicklung, wenn man bedenkt, dass wir seit bald 70 Jahren um kontinuierliche, jährliche Bestandsschauen der aktuellen Entwicklung Bildender Künste bemüht sind.
Bedauerlicherweise erhalten wir wenig bis keine Unterstützung durch die einzige Institution, die teils mitverantwortlich an der Situation ist, andererseits allein die Mittel und Wege hätte, unser Überleben durch einen Minimalaufwand, quasi per Federstrich, zu garantieren: unser Staat.
Übrigens derselbe Staat, der jahrzehntelang von der Vielfalt und dem Pluralismus künstlerischer und kultureller Eigeninitiativen profitiert hat.
Der „Witz“ an unserer Arbeitsweise liegt dabei in der FREIEN Beteiligung, denn jeder kann einreichen, unabhängig von Ausbildung, Bekanntheitsgrad oder Marktwert.
Es wird nicht kuratiert oder vermarktet, sondern allein nach Gesichtspunkten künstlerischer Originalität, Handwerklichkeit und Eigenständigkeit von Künstlerkollegen anhand der vorliegenden Einsendungen ausgewählt. Diese Vorgehensweise erzeugt höchst spannende Lebendigkeit und einen unzensierten Kommentar der gegenwärtigen Stimmungslage.
Diese Form der Präsentation entstand im 19. Jahrhundert durch die „Pariser Salons“, als erstmalig Künstler gegen museale und merkantile Einschätzungen aufbegehrten. …

Wie lassen sich anhand einer Pflanze globale Zusammenhänge aus Geschichte, Gesellschaft, Kultur und Wirtschaft zeigen? Mehrere Aufenthalte in Brasilien gaben den Anstoß dazu, dass sich die Künstlerin Frauke Zabel intensiv mit Palmen zu beschäftigen begann.
Palmen begegnen uns in unterschiedlichsten Kontexten als Symbol und Verheißung eines Paradieses. Im globalen Norden – einem eher nicht natürlichen Habitat der Palmen – erscheinen sie als ein exotisiertes und romantisiertes Sinnbild für außereuropäische Gebiete seit der kolonialen Expansion. Die positive Konnotation der Pflanze ist also angesichts einer langen ökologischen und ökonomischen Ausbeutung brüchig und ambivalent. ...
